Throwback Thursday: Helicopter Lift

Throwback Thursday Back in 2018, Smiley's photographed a removal of a rotor mount inside of a hangar. The Airbus helicopter was once owned by Aviators Air Rescue in Bangalore, India. The copter was being worked on and converted in Dallas, TX to service for REACH Air Medical in Denver, Colorado. Smiley's was called to do the lift at the hangar in Dallas and we fit right in and got the job done.

New Liebherr Crane Joins the Fleet

The 170 Ton Liebherr Crane Joins the Fleet- Just in time for the heat, Smiley Crane added a new Liebherr 170 Ton to the fleet. With the addition of the 110 and 300 ton cranes over the past few years, the 170 Ton compliments our current fleet by acting as an intermediary sized crane. Primary operated by George and Jan, the 170 Ton offers a strong load chart and has kept busy over the last few weeks setting panels on a local solar farm. It scheduled to do some HVAC sets this week and with the upcoming record breaking heat, we expect that this will be the beginning of a busy summer.

MAVLift at the Zoo

MAVLift 3080 at Ohio Zoo Recently, one of our rental MAVLift units was on a job in Ohio lifting massive panels to be installed in a new Zoo exhibit. It isn't often that we get to see some of the awesome projects that our MAVLift machines get to be used on, so having an inside look at this job was very unique. The panels were being lifted into place from the inside out and were transported using the 3080. Have you seen a MAVLift in action or have any photos of them? Shoot them over to help us boost out social media presence for MAVLift! Send them to Colton@smileylifting.com

The Heat is Here!

The Heat is Here! The Arizona summer heat has begun and the Smiley Crane schedule absolutely is validating that. With the phones ringing off the hook and our dispatch team getting settled into the groove of being dialed into the hustle of the summer, Smiley Crane is ready to face the wave of new jobs coming. This year may seem a little different, partly due to the COVID-19 outbreak that is keeping people in their homes. With the heat coming and A/Cs breaking, demand to keep that going is higher than ever. If the social distancing and stay-at-home requirements continue through the summer, we could see one of the busiest summers Smiley Crane has ever seen.

Scottsdale Airport + Jan!

The first job was lifting 11 units onto the roof of a hangar that was going up for sale. This renovation was completed in just a few hours and was done using the 80 ton. The next job was lifting a 32,000 lb door frame that was being constructed for a brand new hangar at SDL. The hangar was lifted in two pieces and hinged at the middle to be lifted and constructed into one massive frame. Jan was the operator on both the 170 and the 80 ton cranes on these jobs. Tandem Liebherr Lift (300 + 170)

Smiley Crane's Biggest Rigs Working Together Smiley Crane recently had a job that required both Liebherr cranes we currently have, the 300 ton and the 170 ton. The job that Smiley's was faced with was to be set up on a dirt road to assemble a large old dragline excavator that had been separated into many parts. The excavator needed to be hoisted into place with both cranes because of its size. Check out the photos to see the unique set up and the Smiley Crane crew in action.

The “Cube”

Have you seen The Cube? Our newest machine, the SPYDERCRANE URW703 "Cube" crane was shipped to the US from Furukawa Unic in Japan for ConExpo 2020. Since the delivery and the show, we have had the chance to play with and get to know the features and capabilities of this unique lifting machine. One of our trainers, Chris Trejo has been working on this for a few weeks now, and set up the Cube in the warehouse to see what it can do indoors. The crane is set up very much like a massive 094 SPYDERCRANE. It has 4 outriggers and a seat in the back that swings out for operation. The mini-tower-crane setup gives this SPYDERCRANE a very unique setup that allows for the user to still lift [...]
