That’s a huge mirror! Weighing in at over 50,000 lbs. in its packaging, a giant mirror bound for New Mexico was recently lifted from the basement of the Meinel Optical Sciences Building on the University of Arizona Grand Challenges Research Building. The university has been polishing this mirror for over a year and a half. The level of precision is so incredible that the total amount of material removed from the mirror over that period equals only two teaspoons!
