Chris, his wife, Loretta, and sixteen year old daughter, Corvette, live in the west Phoenix Valley. While Chris named his daughter “Corvette,” he claims that she drives slow (when he’s looking at least), is a great kid, and has a huge heart. His wife Loretta grew up in Maine and is the daughter of a lobster fisherman. Having a huge heart is a trend in the Trejo family, as Loretta is the Junior and High School Principal of a local Autism Academy. Family time is very important to the Trejo family and they enjoy long weekend adventures and trips as much as possible.

In the spirit of adventure, every year Chris and his family host a foreign exchange student. Currently they have the pleasure of hosting Agathe Streiff from France. Agathe turned 18 this year and the family claims that she is one of the most fun people to be around that they have ever met.

Chris’s life path to Smiley actually started when he enlisted in the US Army after high school. While enlisted, he spent 7 years running an Army fabrication shop and driving wreckers. Additionally, he was qualified as the Master Driver, making him in charge of training all the battalion personnel on motorized equipment, including the cranes.

Once he left the Army, he tested the waters in a few different industries while working on his teaching degree for middle school and high school math. After teaching one year of freshman math, he realized that teaching in high school was not his optimum career path. Learning about the training opportunity at Smiley, Chris’s background made him a perfect candidate for our expanding training department.

Chris has been leading the charge with Smiley’s NCCER Certification Programs and can be credited with jumping through the 2 years of hoops for Smiley to officially become an accredited NCCER Assessment Center. Chris takes much pride in his curriculum and measures his success by his students success.
